A grammar checker underlines mistakes. Wordmend also rewrites the whole message, changes its tone (professional, friendly, confident…), makes it shorter or translates it, then puts the result back in the field for you. You always review the suggestion before it replaces your text.
It corrects and rewrites in the language you write in, including English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Italian, and keeps that language unless you ask for a translation. Pro can translate your message into another language.
No. Only the text you choose to rewrite is sent, and only when you ask. Page content, browsing history and conversation history are not collected. Password fields are never touched.
Text you rewrite is not stored by default. It is sent through our server to the AI provider to generate the suggestion and is never written to our logs. We keep a count of requests so daily limits work. Text templates are different: the ones you choose to save are stored on your account until you delete them, and are deleted with your account.
Nothing is overwritten. If the field changed in the meantime, the suggestion is not applied automatically, so your latest edits stay intact.
The default is Ctrl+Shift+Y. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts in Chrome to pick a different one.
